QUESTION:

For the application on the asparagus we have thought about the wind and we have taken two things into consideration; in the area that the test is being done in is called “Paracas” (wind storms) so we have decided to do the application that they called “drench”. This means that they will take the Huma Gro mix and put it in back packs. Instead of spraying the mix, they will apply a stream of the mix directly into the soil in points that the drip system shows traces of irrigation.

The other thing is that we will take samples of asparagus that are two rows away from the test row so that we are not taking samples from a row directly on the side of a treated area.

Have you ever done this treatment on asparagus or any other crop before? If so what results did you get? How many days do you think will go by until we see some results? Should I do this application more than once during the harvest?

ANSWER

The soil drench is also very wise. This mix will be awesome in really charging the Asparagus so that they come out of the ground with good vigor. Although a first on Asparagus for me, we have done a similar type of soil drench on transplants and germinating of seeds. We normally see an earlier emergence, stronger vigor, larger size and better color. The evidence should be very clear within 5 to 7 days, but we have seen results as soon as 3 days. This can be repeated every 7 to 10 days as economics and desired results are achieved. They may be able to see even longer periods of harvest cuttings with continuous treatments.

If my soil/crop analysis shows a need for N,P,K of 50 lbs/acre apiece at planting time, and I was using SuperNitro, SuperPhos and SuperK, with a drip system into the ground, what would you recommend as the application rate per treatment, and for how many treatments?

We have many times replaced regular fertilizer with Huma Gro products . I will deal with each separately.

Nitrogen.  If the source of nitrogen is UN 32 then the conversion is really straight forward.  We can reduce the amount of actual N applied by 25% to 30% soil applied nitrogen with the use of Super Nitro. With Super Nitro containing 30% N with a weight of 11 lbs per gallon, we get 3.3 lbs of nitrogen per gallon applied.  Therefore each gallon of Super Nitro will replace 1.5 gallons of UN 32 or 3.8 lbs of actual N soil applied.  Depending on the crop, I normally would apply 20% of the N in the first irrigation, 40% at the start of Stage 2 growth and  20% at the start of stage 3 and the remaining 20% at the start of stage 4.  With drip systems it is easy to distribute this amount of fertilizer uniformly through the the growth cycle but I would have it all applied by the start of Stage 4.

Phosphate:  Real easy  1 gallon of Super Phos will replace 50 units of regular phosphate.  50% of Super Phos at first irrigation, 25 % of Super Phos during Stage 2 and 25% of Super Phos during stage 3.

Potassium: Similar situation to Super Nitro.  Each gallon of Super K contains 4.4 lbs of K and will replace about 6 lbs of normally applied Potassium.  I would apply 25% at the first part of each growing stage.

I would suggest tissue tests at the beginning of each growth stage and adjust the amount needed with foliar applications of the needed elements.

As a guide to using our crop recommendation forms for nutrient recommendations, the chart asks you to enter the stage of growth that the plant is in.  I suggest that if the growth stage at the time of sampling is stage 2, that you enter stage 3 as the growth stage for recommendations so that we will have adequate nutrients for the future stage rather than the stage of growth we just passed.

Are there many types of Aromatic acids (AROMATIC ACIDS)?

Yes, there are many types of aromatic acids.  Technically speaking, aromatic acids are a family or grouping of short chained organic acids that have an alcohol group (OH) molecule attached.

Do all Aromatic Acids have a 100% carbon base like HUMA GRO, 6 carbon atoms on each ring or are there other types of AROMATIC ACIDS that have less than 6 carbon atoms on each ring?

No, there are some aromatic acids that are not benzene ring based, but may have some carbon atoms in them.  By definition, a benzene ring contains the 6 carbon atoms in the ring.  We know that ours is benzene ring based.

Is HUMA GRO AROMATIC ACIDS the only type that has a 100% carbon base, what makes it different than other AROMATIC ACIDS?

Ours is 100% carbon based in the benzene ring configuration.  If there is someone else claiming an aromatic acid, we should ask them how they define their type of aromatic acid.  We have not heard of anyone claiming this small type of carbon based molecular carrier, but if you do we would like to hear about it also.

Do all other AROMATIC ACIDS have a 6-18 Benzene ring chain?

Not necessarily are they benzene ring based nor are they 100% carbon based.

If I ask why HUMA GRO has AROMATIC ACIDS that have a 6-18 Benzene ring chain, would that be due to fabrication process or is there another way to explain this to my clients?

We would answer that we have a unique source of highly oxidized carbon based material that is called “leonardite” and that we use a unique production process to refine the organic acid into this short chain benzene ring molecule.  It is both a unique source as well as a unique process.

If so are all our AROMATIC ACIDS chains 100% carbon based?

Yes!  As explained above.

What are the specific and UNIQUE traits that HUMA GRO AROMATIC ACIDS have over any other AROMATIC ACIDS on the market?

We do not know of any other pure carbon based (benzene ring) aromatic acid on the market.  Again if you hear of one, we would like to know about it so that we can do a comparison.  The technology just simply is not there in the conventional world to do what we do.

The attached pictures are of the pea field where fertility was done from a soil sample so there was nothing real special there. The in furrow enhancement program was what made the yield incredible. The program was 2 quarts of the 1-19-0 starter that Huma Gro made and 2 ounces of HolmesENVIRO Enhand biological inoculant. This was put together in enough water to do a 5 gpa application in furrow on top of the seed. The average yield expectancy is 1,200 pounds per acre and the grower had a yield of  3,200 pounds after the first scalping.

The other factor to remember is that this field received no rain or irrigations from the time of the earliest pictures till harvest. The program not only works but can be very adaptable to many other crops.

The attached pictures are from the stress relief trial this year(2009) on barley. The treatment was 1 quart of Vitol with 1 pint of Micro F. The thinking was to use the high concentration of salysidic acid in the Micro F to trigger the plants SAR resistance. This is non-irrigated barley with no rain fall. Timing of application was at jointing just prior to boot stage.

“Small scale testing by a large fertilizer company in China has been done and repeated to find a fertilizer additive they will use large scale on their major crops. The major parameters they are evaluating are:

-       the rate of emergence

-       stem length

-       stem diameter

-       leaf color

Huma Gro X-Tend, Agritain and CP40  preliminarily all show similar results and all three show much better response than the control. The company that is running the trial has a capacity of 600,000 tons of high quality dry fertilizer in a year.  This is why it is necessary to do a large scale test to confirm the results in different types of soil for their three major crops of rice, corn, and beans.

For X-Tend the advantages shown over the other two products are the following three:

1: No chemical residue in the soil and no toxicity. Agritain has a low toxic residue that is stable in the soil for tens of years.

2. X-Tend has results in both N and P stabilization and preservation which makes it more versatile. Agritain only has results on N.

3. CP40 is actually a hormone, so both CP40 and Agritain do not have any positive impact on the soil itself, but X-Tend will improve the soil microbial and physical properties.

In a larger testing protocol, the only evaluating parameter is yield.  Even if the final results are the same or similar for the three mentioned additives, they will chose X-Tend over the others on the basis of the above three advantages.

As of now, even without the final testing results, one fertilizer company is very willing to put X-Tend into production in one of their manufacturing lines that produces 100,000 tons of urea (their total annual production is 600,000 tons) because of the positive effects and advantages that X-Tend shows. After many trials, the rate that they think is best is 4 liters per metric ton.  This rate is the approximate equivalent to 1 gallon per 1 US ton.”

Are you mixing the Kleenstart and Blend at the label prescribed quantities? When is the best time to apply to the problem area(s)?  One situation is an alfalfa field, the other corn that will be harvested in the fall.

The two mix fine together strait on a 1:1 ratio without any problems.  They should each be applied at the same dosage per acre/hectare to solve salt, hardpan or water penetration/retention problems.  The benefit of this mix is that you will have the short term benefit of the surfactants in Kleenstart to open up the ground and the longer term benefits of the Blend stimulating the biological activity to flocculate the clays.

This mix can be applied any time during the growing season, but is best applied as early in the season as possible and can be repeated every 15 to 30 days with greater lasting results.

We have some Boron product that has a slight layer of crystals on the bottom of the jug. Is it the cold or time or a combination that is the cause?               

What happens is that as the temperature drops in the liquid the water molecules get closer and closer together so that the saturation capability is reduced.  When the water molecules get closer, the solution cannot hold as much dissolved solids.  Those formerly dissolved solids then drop out to the bottom or another way to say it is that the dissolved nutrients precipitate into a solid and fall to the bottom.  This is the challenge that happens.  Some of our products are more saturated than others.  When we make the products, we work hard to maximize the amount of nutrients that can get into the solution so that we are not shipping water.  Most of our nutrient mixes are completely saturated and there is no room for more.  That is why the colder temperatures affect our products which are fully saturated in their solutions at normal temperatures.  That is also why it becomes very important to keep the storage temperatures above 40 degrees F or 5 degrees C. 

I have a lab anaylisis that shows only a Magnesium deficiency but my leaves are very yellow. What should I do?

It is best to take the analysis from the youngest mature leaves.  Normally there are related deficiencies when you see a strong yellowing symptom in the plant.  Are the Sulfur (S), Nitrogen (N), Potassium (K), or Manganese (Mn) levels a little low as well as the Magnesium (Mg) or possibly even a greater deficiency?  Any one of these causes a yellowing effect as well.  You should also note whether it is in the new leaves which shows that there is a Mn, S, or N deficiency or is it in the old leaves indicating Mg, K, or N deficiencies.

How are fertilizing trees different from row crops?

Remember that in Trees the conventional wisdom says that “you are fertilizing today for what you want next year.”  Although our products do not take that long, sometimes it takes longer with trees to show a difference, especially when it is ground applied.

What is the difference between ppm and %? Are they the same or are they like comparing apples to carrots?

In terms of ppm versus % it is a matter of decimals and zeros.  I think the choice is a matter of convenience for the reporting and understanding purposes.  For instance, is it easier to say “Iron = 15 ppm” or “Iron = 0.0015%”?  I think 15 ppm.  They are one and the same.  Apples to apples.  For your information and future calculation:

               1.000% = 10,000 ppm

               0.100% =   1,000 ppm

               0.010% =       100 ppm

               0.001% =         10 ppm

To disinfect Honeydew and Cantaloupe melons, the dosage is to put 5 milliliters of PROUD 3 for each liter of water used.  They submerge the melons for a minimum of 15 seconds in the bath or they spray the mixture on the melons for the same amount of time.  The PROUD 3 works to disinfect the melons and controls the incidence of bacteria and fungi.

The melons are cleaned initially with a mix of water and chlorine to eliminate any dirtiness coming from the field, then they pass through the PROUD 3 disinfectant to prevent the post harvest diseases.

PROUD 3 can also be used to disinfect the refrigerator containers used to transport the pallets with the melon boxes.  For this they use fumigation pumps or sprayers and they use a dosage of 10 milliliters of PROUD 3 for each 1 liter of water.

The results on Honeydew and Cantaloupe melons has been satisfactory and successful.  We have eliminated all the diseases that normally develop in the post harvest period and transport, especially the mildews and molds.

The international company in Guatemala is currently conducting a test with PROUD 3 to use it in their post harvest program with melons.  They should send us the results sometime around the 20th of January.

We are sending you the following table for the dosages we have successfully evaluated for the disinfection of vegetables and fruits:

Zucchini, squash, green beans, peas . . .      5 ml of PROUD 3 per 1 liter of water

Carrots . . .                                                      10 ml of PROUD 3 per 1 liter of water

Peaches . . .                                                     3 ml of PROUD 3 per 1 liter of water

Watermelon & Papaya . . .                            5 ml of PROUD 3 per 1 liter of water

In Guatemala they have said that in the past some of these growers were used to losing 25% on up to 70% of their production to mold and mildew diseases in transit to their markets.  With the use of PROUD 3, their transportation losses have been reduced to 1% up to 10%.

2. 3 days later,
3. 5-7 days later

Results are obvious after 3rd appliction.

SAMPLES WERE SENT TO INTERNATIONAL AG LABS FOR ANALYSIS.              

CONCLUSION:

PHOSPHATE LEVELS OF 1B AND 3B SHOW SIMILAR LEVELS AS DOES 2B AND 4B, THEREFORE 1 GALLON OF SUPER PHOS CAN REPLACE THE PHOSPHATE IN 200# PER ACRE OF 16-16-16.

This picture is of soybean plants in Turkey taken in August of 2008. Both of these soybeans are of the same variety taken from the same field. The plant on the left is representative of the side of the field that was treated with Bio Huma Netics products. It had one treatment of the product VITOL at 3 liters per hectare (about 1.25 quarts per acre). That is the only difference between the plants. You can also see the treated root size and that the lateral stems also have pods on them. On the right, the untreated plants have weaker roots, less fruiting, and less foliage. Also, notice the color difference between the two as well.
